We are not totally silent! XD; [Feb. 5th, 2007|10:47 pm]

We've been somewhat quiet for a long time, but I've decided that perhaps this would be interesting to share:

http://www.cnn.com/video/player/player.html?url=/video/law/2007/02/05/henry.dahmer.victim.wisn (Yes, it is a video because CNN doesn't want to have a normal article up yet. Hopefully it works for you all.)

If not, in short: there's a theory out that Jeffrey Dahmer is responsible for Adam Walsh's murder, with quite a few little bits of evidence.

My question for you, oh lovely community of mine, is -- do you think he did it?

1. Name, or what you would like to be called?: Kleb

2. Some hobbies of yours?: Reading, writing, working on CatDragon.

3. Interests: I love writing horror, fantasy, and mysteries and I love to read the same things. I also love music, anime and manga, cats, yaoi/slash, het, and video games.

4. Where do you live?: In Tennessee :3

5. Why did you pick up Exquisite Corpse when you first did?: I’m writing a book called Flash Drive which is a murder mystery story dealing in part with necrophilia. A f-list friend of mine recommended it when I started to complain about there not being many necro-friendly sites to do the necessary research.

6. What sort of activities do you think we should do in this community?: …read my story? *shrugs and gives a big grin*

7. What do you expect to see come out of this community? Maybe some helpful tips on what was done right vs. wrong in the story as regard to portraying a murder/necrophiliac.

8. Anything else you would like to add?:…read my stuff? *really has no clue what to suggest*

Has anyone read any Dennis Cooper?? i just read his collection of short stories, titled, Wrong. i'd heartily recommend it to fans of Exquisite Corpse... lots of graphic murder, lots of graphic guy sex, very well written and exploring the depths of the human condition as well... and in the story Introducing Horror Hospital, there's descriptions of a band playing live the likes of which i've not encountered anywhere since pzb...

here's an amazon link:
http://tinyurl.com/kvmvj

i was looking for a suitable intro to Dennis Cooper, before jumping headlong into the Closer, Frisk, Try, Guide, Period sequence of books, and for me it was a great place to start...

anyone else a fan?

3. Interests: Sci-fi, horror, fantasy, slash, mental health, Biological sciences, comics, erm all sorts really check my info if you want!

4. Where do you live?:  North East of England

5. Why did you pick up Exquisite Corpse when you first did?: I have always loved horror books and i decided one day a year or two ago, that I was stuck in a rut with the authors  I always read. So I picked up a few books I have always been curious about by people I have never read and this was one of them...

6. What sort of activities do you think we should do in this community?: well, i have no clue... but that is not helpful is it!! ;) obvious is the general discussion, art, can anyone write? perhaps...of these things I can chat and that is about is so I apologise for the crapness of my input! perchance someone can film a wonderful piece of interpretative jazz dancing to illustrate the story line of the book, no really that would be...cool?!

1. Name, or what you would like to be called: Thom

2. Some hobbies of yours?: Watching Japanese anime - mainly series, playstation games, clubbing, reading, sun bathing and Sleeping (see the interests listed on my profile for more info.)

3. Interests: Again, see my profile but recently I've been interested in Mummies after watching too many documentaries on "Discovery Civilisation"

4. Where do you live?: London, England

5. Why did you pick up Exquisite Corpse when you first did?: I'd enjoyed reading "Lost Souls" and my friend lent me all her other Poppy Z Brite books. Exquisite corpse was my favourite

6. What sort of activities do you think we should do in this community?: Not sure. I think it depends on who's in the community and what they like. A lot of communities share topical icons they've created but that doesn't seem appropriate.... I guess we could discuss similar literature we're reading and maybe share information related to topics covered by the book. Not sure really. Maybe we should all start by saying why we liked the book and stuff like that.

7. What do you expect to see come out of this community? Or, what do you think our posts would consist of when we become more active?: I would like to see the book in a new perspective by discussing it with others and once we all know why we like the book then we'll know how the community should progress. Artwork would be really cool but unfortunately I'm crap at art!

8. Anything else you would like to add?: Looking forward to seeing if anything happens.......

Alright, I suppose 8 is members enough to start doing something interesting! Well, at least introducing ourselves. So my plan is to start with a small survey/meme sort of thing to play with and fill out for each of our members. Have at it!

1. Name, or what you would like to be called: Haley

2. Some hobbies of yours?: Reading, writing, drawing, playing some MMORPGs

3. Interests: Hm. Slash, reading (yes, this is a hobby AND an interest), making icons, literacy, having fangirl moments, music, food. Pretty deep stuff, there. XD

4. Where do you live?: USA

5. Why did you pick up Exquisite Corpse when you first did?: Because I had been reading quite a lot of Poppy Z. Brite's books after they had been recommended to me by a friend, about this time last year. I loved them, and wanted to read more. This was just another that I picked up (two copies at a time, actually. There was an advanced reader's copy at my bookstore and I snatched it up too. ^^).

6. What sort of activities do you think we should do in this community?: That's one I haven't decided on. It's why I made this a survey question for the members to answer. 8)

7. What do you expect to see come out of this community? Or, what do you think our posts would consist of when we become more active?: I plan on doing random fanart! Probably, to kick us up. And maybe some more comm pimpage. :33

8. Anything else you would like to add?: Not that I can think of. I'm terrible at my own little survey, aren't I? Bah. I have drawings to do. ^^
